OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Obstetrics

Dr Weston is happy to look after both low risk and high risk pregnancies. He has managed thousands of deliveries, and spent a year managing high risk pregnancies on an exchange program in Capetown, South Africa. Many of the pregnancies Dr Weston manages are a result of IVF, and the focus is always on safety as the highest priority in obstetric management.

At your first antenatal clinic visit, you will have routine pregnancy blood and urine tests organised, and discuss whether you wish to have screening for Down syndrome with the non-invasive perinatal test (NIPT). You will likely have an ultrasound scan of your pregnancy, and a blood pressure check.

Any particular risks for your pregnancy will be discussed, and a plan arranged. If you are on IVF hormones, your treatment schedule will be confirmed and scripts organised.

Subsequent visits will be more or less frequent based on your medical issues, but at a minimum, will be once per month until 28 weeks, then fortnightly until 36 weeks, and then weekly until delivery. Care included in your obstetric package includes any postnatal care for up to 6 weeks.

Seeing a fertility specialist who is also an obstetrician means that possible obstetric problems can be anticipated and discussed even before you conceive, as part of your fertility management.

This bespoke and holistic care is a key part of Dr Weston’s practice.

Fees

There are two out-of-pocket bills, one at 16 weeks, and one at 30 weeks. All visits up until 6 weeks post-partum are bulk billed, and there is no out of pocket for the delivery.

You can breathe easy, knowing that no matter if your pregnancy has unexpected complications, there are no additional charges. When having private obstetric care, there should be no hidden costs.

Dr Weston is happy to see obstetric patients for antenatal visits at all of the locations where he practices. All deliveries occur at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, one of Melbourne’s most popular private obstetric hospitals. View Dr Weston's consultation locations here.
